Tuesday Top Tens: January 27

Hey, we’ve got a new feature! Every Tuesday I’ll be posting 3 sets of power rankings: my college hoops top 10, my top 10 NBA teams, and a ranking of something unrelated.

Let’s do it!

College Hoops

1. Kentucky

2. Virginia

3. Gonzaga

4. Duke

5. Wisconsin

6. Arizona

7. Villanova

8. Kansas

9. Utah

10. Notre Dame

Also considered: UNC, Oklahoma, Iowa State.

To me, there’s a level of tiers. Tier One is Kentucky and UVA. Tier Two is Gonzaga, Duke, Wisconsin, Arizona, Villanova, and Kansas. Tier Three is Utah and Notre Dame. Tier Four is UNC, Iowa State and Oklahoma. I can’t imagine anyone outside these 13 cutting down the nets in March.

NBA

1. Golden State

2. Memphis

3. Atlanta

4. Portland

5. Dallas

6. San Antonio

7. Houston

8. LA Clippers

9.  Oklahoma City

10. Washington

Also considered: Toronto, Phoenix, New Orleans, Chicago

Atlanta is playing great, but I can’t shake the fact that they are doing so against an Eastern Conference schedule. I’ll be keeping an extra eye on them whenever they play teams from the Western.

Movies In the Last 10 Years

1. The Dark Knight

2. Gone Baby Gone

3. Superbad

4. Up in the Air

5. The Wolf of Wall Street

6. Wedding Crashers

7. There Will Be Blood

8. Toy Story 3

9. The Town

10. Guardians of the Galaxy

Also considered (in no order): Inception, I Love You Man,  The Social Network, Marvel’s Avengers, The Hurt Locker, Cinderella Man, The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Departed, The Fighter, Up, 21 Jump Street, Step Brothers, The Hangover, Inglorious Basterds, This is the End…(deep breath)

…Shutter Island, Moonrise Kingdom, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Django Unchained, MacGruber, Silver Linings Playbook, Pitch Perfect, Nebraska, The Ides of March

This list started as 41 movies, which I was able to get to the 34 you see above. I considered the first 25 for the top 10 and I’ll never be happy with the list I went with. You can switch any of those 25 into almost any order and I’ll be OK with it. The third group is a bit of a step down, but I couldn’t let those go unmentioned.

Now, I’m sure you all agree with all of this, so I can’t imagine any reason to comment on this post.
